Heritage and Visitor Centre

The Heritage and Visitor Centre is situated in the centre of Longridge by the old Preston and Longridge Railway line, which operated from 1840 to 1967. The former station has been thoughtfully converted to house the Heritage and Visitor Centre, Longridge Town Council Offices, along with The Station Cafe and meeting room for hire.

The Heritage and Visitor Centre is a great place to visit to gather information about Longridge and the surrounding area – you can find out about Longridge's fascinating history; browse the old photographs on the Town Archive; or view one of our regularly changing exhibitions.

Longridge Heritage Centre Trust is the custodian of the Town Archive, which consists of photographs, sound recordings and documents that provide a fascinating insight into the rich history of Longridge. A sample of the town archive is accessible online or it’s possible to obtain a print of any original photograph at the Heritage and Visitor Centre for a small charge.

The Heritage and Visitor Centre also stocks a wide range of visitor information for Longridge and the surrounding area, including local maps of the Forest of Bowland AONB and Ribble Valley district, together with accommodation details, leaflets on local walks and bus timetables to Preston and other nearby towns.

The Heritage and Visitor Centre is operated by a team of dedicated volunteers, who provide cover for the opening hours of 10.00am to 2.00pm Monday to Friday excluding public holidays.
