Volunteering at the Heritage Centre

Have you thought of being a volunteer at the Heritage Centre?

  • Have you some time to spare?
  • Do you like meeting people?
  • Are you interested in history or other aspects of local life?
  • Have you skills you can offer e.g. Computer, gardening, marketing?

At the Heritage Centre at the Old Station, Berry Lane we try to have someone on reception every week day and at present we are in need of more Volunteers to look after the reception desk.  There are usually visitors to chat to and we help with queries when we can.  We have a small amount of items for sale and we have a telephone to answer.  There is also an opportunity to do your own local history research using our extensive archive or help create the Exhibition Displays that are on show in the Heritage Centre.

Our volunteers also help in other roles such as looking after the station garden.  We are interested in promoting our Heritage among the wider community including the elderly, schools and other interested groups.  We put on displays and exhibitions which highlight both local events and this involves some research and probably some use of our computer.
No one is expected to do more than they want and any help is appreciated, no matter how little time you can spare.  Drop into the Heritage Centre and chat to one of our volunteers to see if it is for you or email us - This email address is being protected from spambots.
